What is an Exercise Physiologist?
An Exercise Physiologist (EP) is a health professional who has completed both undergraduate and post-graduate study in exercise prescription and rehabilitation. Aurora Fitness & Massage's EPs are accredited with Exercise and Sports Science Australia.
How can an Aurora Fitness & Massage Exercise Physiologist help you?
All our EPs are highly qualified and have extensive experience in dealing with a range of medical and health conditions. We have EPs specialising in sports training, diabetes, neuromuscular disorders, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, arthritis, stroke, injury rehabilitation as well as pre- and post-natal care. We want to help you to function to the best of your ability.
We believe in an integrated approach to health management and will work closely with your doctors and allied health team to make sure that you receive seamless and supportive care. We also have an in-house Massage Therapist who can work alongside your EP to provide you with a thorough treatment package.
Are you eligible for a Medicare rebate?
Medicare rebates are available to patients with chronic or complex conditions that are expected to last for at least six months. These conditions include but are not limited to asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal conditions and stroke. To claim a Medicare rebate you must be referred by your GP under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan. A maximum of five allied health services (which includes exercise physiology) are available per calendar year.

Does my private health insurance cover Exercise Physiology?
Most private health insurers cover Exercise Physiology as part of their extras. You will need to check with your health insurer to see if you are covered.
You cannot claim on private health insurance and receive a Medicare rebate for the same exercise physiology session.
